I'm thinking there needs to be a tutorial video to show new users how to ship a game. While there has been an influx of new traders (which is awesome), there is an increasing problem with them not fulfilling trades and either cancelling or having them time out because they strangely don't know how to do it. The instructions seem simple enough to me, but maybe a video on the homepage could help with any confusions...

Brem made some tutorial videos not long ago, but admittedly I didn't look at any because I'm not the audience that needs tutorializing.

I don't think the process is the big deterring factor as much as the cost is.  A monkey can package games in an envelope, but I know the very first potential trade I could have had on another site back in 2006 I let pass by because I had no idea what to expect in terms of cost.  Starting straight away with "Your first trade will run you at least $10" will remove the surprise, at least.  Tangentially related is how sellers pay shipping with no monetary input from the buyer, so making sure they understand they'll pay no shipping when they spend their credits on the other side of a trade probably wouldn't go amiss either.

Just my 2 cents to help save cost IF a few factors fall into place.

    Bubble mailers>

If you have access to Sams club you can get 25 6x9 for $5.28 ( Demographics fluctate price im sure but prolly not by much)

    Dollartree~Can get 2 for $1

    Walmart~2 for .99 ( demographics fluctate prices)

Packing Tape (only needed if you dont buy self sticking labels)

Walmart~Goto office supplies and there is a 60 yd roll for $1.49

    Dollartree~ 40Yd Roll for $1

Self sticking labels (make sure you choose label only)

    Walmart~ Avery mailing labels #8126 $16.99 for 25 sheets =50 labels

Ebay~ I do a ton of ebay selling and this is the best bet  I get about 200 labels for $10

Of course paypal or amazon for shipping.

My last advice is use the self sticking labels.  Saves time and money. Also pick up a cheap food scale for weighing packages.  Way cheaper than a digital postal scale and just as accurate.(check thrift stores for these I paid $2 for my scale and goes up to 4 Lbs.)

Hey all! I guess this is a newbie question. I've sold alot on here but never purchased anything. Not to say I havent tried....I have tried 10 times to buy games that were listed. And every time I requested a game the seller never confirmed the sale and the timer eventually ran out. Since this has happened so many times Im starting to wonder, is there something else I'm supposed to do on my end after I request a game? At first I figured these sellers were changing their minds on trades but now Im starting to think maybe I'm the problem haha.

No, that just happens for whatever reason. Sometimes people change their mind.

The value of the game may have changed since originally listed, so a trader may decide to keep the game or trade/sell it else where. I recently couldnt find a loose ds game someone requested and could not accept.

Just request alot of games and some will go through. Also you can request a bunch of games and get in line in queue and wait for someone to send it.

I would recommend sending them a message. I find that it helps but unfortunately some people go a while without signing on and it can make it difficult to confirm the trade in time.

    Thanks for the tips everyone!

I got one more question, when I request a game and select "Full Package" instead of disc+case, does that mean if someone lists a disc+case only copy it would skip over me? And if so, is there a way I can change my request to disc+case without losing my spot on the queue?

    Thanks!

That will most likely happen. This is why we suggest requesting disc & case for most newer titles. Since most new games do not come with manuals and sometimes no inserts. So requesting disc & case is the best route to go when requesting newer titles.

But, if it happens to be a game that does come with a manual, and you're the only one who requested it, you will be matched with either disc & case, or if someone lists full package, you get first dibs. That of course is if someone behind you doesn't request full package.

    Hope that helps!

You mean you want to trade a game of yours, but only for the crediy you'll take? To do so, set up a friend to friend trade with someone.

What I do, is go to their profile, to their collection and click Friend to friend on a random game. I then click the red (x) on the game and then put the amount of credit I would like to get, and then on my side, I pick the game I would like to trade out. I know it seems like more work but it works for me.

You can also ask the person to set up the F2F and make sure they list the credit you ask for.
