Game matched while involved in F2F with someone else

I had a game that is in an unconfirmed F2F match with a different trader.  I had to cancel it (and got a penalty) and was wondering how this even happened since it's kind of on hold in an F2F.  It's already in the mail anyway, so I couldn't undo anything.  Is it a glitch?  Any way to get my credit penalty back since it's truly in an F2F?

The credit penalty has been removed.

Likely not a glitch. If you were matched with a user in a basic trade, still cancelling it may cause a penalty to occur. If it happens again, let me know and I'll take care of it for you.

I think she's asking why it matched in a basic trade since she the game is involved in a F2F.  If one has an active listing for a game but also has a F2F open for that game, typically a message along the lines of 'this game is on hold because it is involved in another trade' appears with the active listing, thus preventing from that game being matched in the queue.  Was she matched in the basic trade because her F2F was not confirmed by the other user at the time of the match?

*EDIT* Or will a match happen with an open basic listing, regardless of a F2F trade status, until the user removes the active listing from their trade in queue?

It depends on what is confirmed first and who sets up the F2F trade. If you didn't agree to, and or confirm a f2f trade yet, you can still match for the basic trade listing. If you had agreed to the f2f trade before matching on a basic trade, your basic trade would have been put on hold so you don't match with anyone.

I'm going to guess that the user you did the f2f trade with, set the trade up? If so, he could have chosen a game you had listed in your collection. Even while matched in a basic trade, another user can set up a f2f trade for that game with you. When you try to accept the f2f trade though, you will get the error message informing you that this game is already in a basic trade.

To boil it down, you can still get a F2F request from a user while matched in a basic trade. You just wouldn't be able to accept it if also matched with another user in the basic trade listing.

I hope that answers your questions.
