Gaming critics, yay or nay?

I'm one of those people who don't really follow reviews for games anymore, mainly because it just hasn't been a thing to bother with for such a long time when I usually go by word of mouth anyways. Anyways, do you guys follow gaming reviews? Lets say IGN, GameSpot, etc. Do you feel they do a good job at reviewing games? Whenever I read a review at IGN, users complain about IGN and them doing reviews, how they think IGN gets paid to do reviews and so on.

When I was younger I went by what review sites/magazines said, but these days, I don't even bother reading reviews anymore, at least not for video games.

I do. I typically watch a few just to hear the pros and cons, especially if it's a game I'm on the fence about.

I can totally understand that. For some reason I just don't find myself reading reviews like I used to. Maybe it's because most of the games I want usually end up good, but maybe I should read reviews more often. I do check out reviews of older games when I trade for them here though.

I like to see the overall score, see what everyone is saying and base my choice on that. I don't just read the likes of, say, IGN or Gamespot. I read everywhere to form an idea on the game.

Yeah that's actually a pretty good idea. I used to do that, but these days I just grab what games appeal to me. Well, on second thought, if I want a game here I usually read reviews before getting it, so I guess I do read reviews more than I think.
