Prefer name brand controllers or 3rd party controllers?

I am looking to get a new controller as the one I have now is horrible for playing FPS's and I have a few games I want to play through. Thing is, I'm tired of buying xbox 360 controllers and ending up having to get a new one nearly every year. It is always the left analog that breaks on me, so I was wondering, does anyone here know of good controllers worth buying that aren't microsoft brand? I was thinking about getting a razer 360 controller, just because it could make a game that much more fun, but I'm not sure I want to spend that much for a controller, especially since I will be getting an xbone one of these days.

Do you prefer name brand controllers from the company themselves or 3rd party controllers?

I prefer name brand because they're usually better, but I do want to try those popular 3rd party ones that are quite expensive. I prefer name brand for the device itself.

I actually like Razer controllers, they make some awesome controllers, even though they're a bit too pricey, I love what they do. Also I want to get one of their laptops soon. They look awesome!

The name brand is usually best, but I remember having a good mad catz controller many years ago for my PS2 that actually wasn't garbage. And usually Mad catz can't make a controller to save their lives. I have never considered buying a razer controller though.

It depends on the price. Some third party controllers are good enough and others are junk

I know I'm late to the party, but I prefer name brand controllers. The only third party controllers I've ever used, and still use on occassion, are Logitech's. They're really well made and incredibly responsive.

I'm all for 1st party; better quality and I've been burned too many times by 3rd party. Also, Xbox controllers are known to crap out. Microsoft's way of making more money I suppose.

1st party all the way, I never play couch coop games as i have no hardcore gamer friends or coop/online games they would be interested in so I have no purpose to buy amother controller, let alone a third party. I also take major good care of my gaming merchandise so I would never struggle with needing a new controller.

If you have smaller hands (like smaller kids' hands), the Madcatz original XBOX controllers and Gamecube controllers are very comfortable.
